426 Hemi “J” Code real deal One of 217 426 Hemi Four Speeds Produced! Marketing muscle in the 1960s took a big shift in 1968, and Plymouth made it happen. The company had seen sales fall in 1967 when it had limited the Hemi engine only to the new GTX, a well-optioned model created for well-off buyers. In 1968, the company came up with the new Road Runner, a taxicab on rocket boosters that broke the budget barrier. They sold 17,083 GTX ‘s of them with Hemi power, one of the highest-production quantities of that famous engine in a single model. On the other hand, just a mere 217 of the GTX 2-door hard top built in 1968 were optioned with that famous, the engine 426 Hemi!
. The individual with the wherewithal to order this J-code Hemi GTX back in the day created a beautiful, powerful car that epitomizes the mystique of late 1960s B-body muscle.
Painted in QQ1 Bright Blue Metallic with a striking white interior, the car stands out immediately. The GTX chrome trim, the special cast rear tail panel plate, and discreet chrome accents make this Mopar stand out. The car rides on 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels with red line tires, giving it a classic muscle car appearance from the factory back in the day. Of course, Hemi callouts on the hood blister inserts and rear deck edge signal what lurks within.
The 426 Hemi arrived stock with dual 4-barrel carburetors, race-bred bottom end internals, a solid-lifter valvetrain, extreme-duty 26-inch radiator and that big chrome air cleaner. Behind it here is the heavy-duty A833 4-speed manual transmission and a Sure Grip-equipped 3.54 Dana 60 rear axle.
Also on this Hemi car are the bucket seats, premium steering wheel, 150 MPH speedometer and in-dash tach, power steering, heavy-duty brakes, Hemi-specific suspension components, and large radiator.

Finished in the correct, stunning color combination of “Bright Blue Metallic” with White interior. There is heavy duty brakes and suspension, factory radio, heat and defrost, Spare tire, jack and tire iron. The paint is fantastic with a deep shine and a mirror like finish. The body panel fit and finish is fantastic along with the chrome trim and bright work. The interior, trunk and undercarriage is extremely clean and looks amazing!
